[Sciences] Why Everyone Seems to Have Cancer – NYTimes.com

An old but very interesting article on the New York Times published over a year ago.
I am not a cancer expert but what I have seen and understood, in the light of stem cell research is that cancer, this enemy within, is simply a fight against our evolutionary mechanism. More and more it appears that cancer cells are simply cells that were capable to jump into an evolutionary time machine, capable to reverse the biological evolutionary clock to get back to the same primitive stage that cells may encounter a billion year ago. A time were the conditions were hostile, oxygen sparse, nutrients rare, and competition tough.
I believe that once we will find how these primitive cells were behaving (by better understanding stem cell biology), then we may find ways to tame cancer cells or at least turn the clock back to our time.
